This blog reports on the first of 10 trees received from the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority. This is part of the Butternut Recovery Program. The tree is selected to be canker resistant and is being monitored for its disease resistance. This tree is identified as CRB1I for Canker Resistant Butternut Tree #1, planted in area I of our Woodlot.

Planted the tree
The tree was planted today and a cardboard mat was placed around it.
